Baseless predictions for the coming week in Europe

Champions League
AC Milan v Bayern Munich, 2:45 Tuesday, ESPN Deportes and Setanta – With Owen Hargreaves back, Bayern is that much more dangerous, but their woes haven’t ceased. They still sit 4th in the Bundesliga, and it’s down to one main factor: their away form. Also worth noting that captain Oliver Kahn is suspended. Milan 2-1

Chelsea v Valencia, 2:45 Wednesday, ESPN Deportes and Setanta – Valencia got past Inter last round by holding them to two draws, and getting away goals when needed. I’d love to see that happen here as well, but Chelsea at home, even in Europe, is still very difficult to break down. It won’t help Valencia that, like Bayern, their captain, Carlos Marchena, is suspended (along with sucker punch-throwing David Navarro) for this match. Chelsea 3-1

Roma v Manchester Utd, 2:45 Wednesday, espn2 – United will probably have the best chance out of these three games of winning as the away side. But Luciano Spalletti’s have the firepower to threaten Manchester, especially at the Olympic Stadium. The key will be keeping United out of the net as well, and they do seem to have more trouble scoring in Europe. Roma 1-0

UEFA Cup
Sevilla v Tottenham, 2:45 Thursday, FSC – I think it will be close enough where Tottenham will have a chance coming back to White Hart Lane, but I can’t see Spurs turning over the defending UEFA Cup champions in their home stadium. Sevilla 2-1
Bayer Leverkusen v Osasuna, 1:00 Thursday – Bayer 3-1
Espanyol v Benfica, 2:45 Thursday, Setanta PPV – 2-2
AZ v Werder Bremen, 2:45 Thursday – AZ 2-1

Liverpool at PSV is Tuesday at 2:45 on espn2.
